
Dealing with Tight Squeezes in Glass Bending Furnaces
Let’s be honest: non-standard glass bending furnaces can be a total nightmare to work with. When you’re staring at a cramped internal chassis or trying to hit some crazy curvature requirements, those off-the-shelf heating lamps just don’t cut it. They don’t fit. Period. That’s why we build custom-length and custom-shaped infrared (IR) lamps. We basically build them to fit your specific layout so you can stop fighting with your equipment. The problem with “standard” fits Standard lamps always leave gaps. And in glass annealing, gaps are the enemy. They create cold spots, which lead to internal stress, and eventually, your glass just snaps. It’s frustrating. We handle this by mapping out the exact length and bend radius of the quartz tube to match the actual inside of your furnace. When the shape is right, you can tuck the heat source much closer to the glass without worrying about it actually touching. This means less heat escaping into the furnace walls and more of it actually doing its job. The trade-off: Power vs. Space Here’s the thing about custom lengths: they let us tune the wattage per centimeter. If you’ve got a tiny, tight corner that needs a ton of heat, we can crank up the power density in a short lamp. But a word of warning here—pushing that much power into a small space puts a lot of stress on your lamp holders. Just make sure your wiring and connectors can handle the current draw, or you’re going to end up with burnt-out terminals. Getting it installed Whether you need something straight, U-shaped, or a complex multi-bend, we’ve got it covered. The goal is a drop-in replacement. You shouldn’t have to tear apart your entire furnace frame or redesign your brackets just to make a standard lamp fit.
